PARTICIPATORS and OBSERVERS
There are basically two types of people… those who Participate and those who Observe. Both react but both do not react in the same manner as the other. One, Observes what is going on around them and continues on with their daily “business” in pretty much the same manner as before, regardless of what is being Observed or with no sustained, significant change. The other however, Observes the “things” around them and Participates in what that Observation indicates should take place. Such is the case with the vast majority of the populace of planet earth.
We are constantly surrounded by stimulus by news services on TV, Radio and recently, the Internet which literally unites millions of people who otherwise would not be so interconnected. Such “inter-connectivity” now exists in the most portable of means with the advent of the cellphone and its adaptations of Internet networking. Miniaturization has brought about this capability as we transitioned from Transistor to Micro-processor and printed circuit board and this we can be sure is not the smallest of devices yet to appear on the Technology Frontier. Nanotechnology essentially began around the 1960’s when the “Cathode Ray Tube” was replaced with the Transistor and it hasn't stopped yet… What several “man-sized” Cathode Ray Tubes accomplished in the 1890’s (invented in 1897 by Karl Braun) were later reduced in size to fit inside a radio in the 1920’s,,, which in turn were sub-miniaturized to the Transistor, pencil eraser size component, and further reduced to the “Integrated Circuit” which comprises diodes, resistors, capacitors and such. Today, we essentially have within the microprocessor, the equivalent of over 1.5-Billion Transistors… and the quest continues to reduce this even further through the field of nanotechnology which operates in measurements equaling 1-Micron or less, or, 1-Millionths of a meter, or, 39-Millionths of an inch. The unassisted eye can only see about 40-Microns in size or roughly the point of a pin, or half the size of the “period” at the end of this sentence.
What does this have to do with the proclivity of mankind to be either Participator or Observer? Funny you should ask because I was just thinking the same thing. Well, on the surface there seems to be no connection whatsoever, however, there exists a dynamic, so powerful in this relationship it is mind-boggling, and herein lies the “Point” of this dissertation—for just as the process of miniaturization seems never to cease, so too do we tend to become focused upon technology and what it brings to us in “Ease and Fun of Living” while missing the “Larger Than Life” picture of what the Bible refers to as the “unseen world”… “While we look not at the things which are seen but at the things which are not seen, for the things which are seen are Temporal, but the things which are not seen are Eternal”, [2 Corinthians 4:18-KJV-Emphasis Added, “t-T”, “e-E”].
Man Continues To Discard The “Instruction Manual” and “GO-FOR-IT”…
THE BIBLE WAS WRITTEN BY GOD, THROUGH MAN FOR MANKIND, THAT
WE WOULD KNOW OUR UNSEEN GOD WHO WILL ONE DAY BE SEEN AND KNOWN.
